Pete Rock & C. L. Smooth "They Reminisce Over You"

I saw DJ Pete Rock a few weeks ago and OH MY GOD...it was awesome! Music like this will never be forgotten. They still reminisce over you...

Gang Starr - Mass Appeal

Although I never knew you, some part of me misses you as if you were a friend. Funny how music can develop feelings for strangers...R.I.P. Guru...

Cypress Hill - How I Could Just Kill a Man

I miss me some Cypress Hill...

Das EFX - They Want EFX

Throwing back some old goodies for ya...

Love Can Be Dangerous

Bang! There goes a hit,
Pow! there goes another one.
And I don't mean glocks or shots coming out your gun.
I'm talking bout straight punches
bruises, and blood.
I call it violence and you call it "love".
Lay your fingers on my face, to caress?
Nah, instead a cushion for you to release your stress.
I ain't a punching bag,
what made you think such a thing?
Walkin' around with bruises, got my face in a sting.
I'm tired of this shit, bleeding internally from such emotional damage.
You're such a fuckin' savage, damaging my insides.
Can't you see? I'm sick from all the blood cries.
Disfiguring my body, even murdered our own baby.
No matter how hard I pleaded
Nobody would save me.
Don't you see, this ain't love, it was pleasure and games.
All the time we had couldn't measure the pain.
As if a 5 year sentence wasn't enough.
Now I hear you got your baby moms in a situation, that's tough.
I ain't hatin', I just feel bad for the two.
Good thing is I thank God I didn't end up with you.

Eve ft Faith Evans - Love Is Blind

This song brings me to a place I never wanna go again, but it's real life. It's not just a video, this happens all the time. Domestic violence is a serious issue. Ladies, don't be scared to speak up...Someone is always willing to help.

Tiny Update

Hey there Hip-Hop heads! First off, I hope all of you are enjoying your weekend the same way I am. So to update you on what's been happening I've provided a link to the radio station where I've basically been living for the past week or so. I've had the opportunity to revolve my days around the crew, Paulie, Kumba, Lady and Hazel which have to be by far the most chill and down to earth crew to work with. I've had the privilege to meet a few famous artists such as Poison Pen, Caustic, Soul Khan and Immortal Technique through them. I have really been focusing all my attention on fulfilling my desires in the music world so I'm crossing fingers to be a part of the Real Deal Team very soon. I recently interviewed one of my new favorite lyricists from Queens, NY and that went extremely well. I also will be blogging for a website soon so be on the look for that as well. Ok, I can't spill out all the goods just yet, but I will be having some dope stuff up. I hope all of you stay safe and I will be updating real soon. Enjoy the weekend!

Fellas, This Is For You (don't take it personal)

Fellas listen up, I know some of you are awesome when it comes to "kickin' game" and what not, but a few of you need some schoolin'. I'm gonna help you out with a simple list of "what to do & what NOT to do". The reason I'm voicing my opinion on this is because I do get approached by guys here and there but I don't give them the time of the day because of the non-sense that comes out their mouth. If you have recently gone up to a girl and they weren't having it, maybe you should step ya game up. It's funny, just because I'm a female doesn't mean I don't know what a lot of dudes think. I recently walked in on a conversation and the guy was saying when he goes up to a shorty (yeah, he refers to us as shorties) and she's not interested he thinks to himself, well maybe her friend is down. Down for what?!?! I was really heated when I heard this and I couldn't help but to walk out. Then I over heard him again referring  to girls as birds and that its basically only to screw. You definitely won't be getting a girl like that, especially if she's classy. So ok, check it out...

DON'T:
1. None of that "Ayyo shorty, Damn mami, Yo! Lemme holla!" stuff. That's a big  DENY.
2. Don't approach a female if you just chugged a bottle of henny and your breath smells of cigarettes and liquor. Not a good look.
3. If you have to walk holding your pants up because they are so baggy and past your behind, you can keep walking THAT way ---->
4. Do not, I repeat DO NOT come up to a woman and tell her you want to suck her toes right off the bat. It's not cute for that to be the first sentence out of your mouth.
5. Have some respect, I know your mother taught you better. And when a female rejects you don't curse her out and throw a tantrum. Thanks.
6. This one is pretty funny and happened to me recently. Don't stalk a girl. We peep everything out. We have a third eye, I see when you were walking the opposite way and randomly bumped into me again. It's still not gonna happen.
7. Last, if you can't get a girl's number, don't holler at her friend next to her because chances are she's going to say "no" as well.

DO:
1. Approach her with RESPECT and give her your name, and no street names either.
2. Give her a nice (non-sexual) compliment. I'm sure she'll be blushing and let out a smile.
3. Be natural, have a unique style and maybe she'll give you her name.
4. Stay away from the street jargon, and be polite, look her in the eyes, at least act like you are interested.
5. Give her your number, if she really digs your style she will call. We don't like to feel pressured to give out numbers, so when we're ready, we'll call at our time.

If you're a gentlemen and are really seeking the interest of a certain woman, do this and she will respect you more.

Reason for this post, I just got approached by a drunk man screaming at me, pleading for my number, and I almost called the cops. So yeah, hope you enjoyed...

Music, Mi Amor

Have you ever been in love? Do you know what it feels to be giddy and have nervousness running though your veins as they pulsate from the feeling of loving? That skipping down the street, heart poppin' out your chest, buckled-knees type of love??? Well, in case you didn't know, I am physically, emotionally and wholeheartedly in love with music. I was conversing with a friend earlier on the word "love" and my whole outlook on romance in general. He asked, and sounded kind of confused all at the same time, "You don't like love?" I responded "Love is a four letter word to me, that's it. It's nothing but a tricky bitch." No need to lie, I'm a person of honesty. Have I been heartbroken, quite often, then again who hasn't? I have been broken down to the point where my heart is a cold, lonely place where I've locked the key inside and burned it. Yeah, all that. I know right now isn't the time for me to love another human, but when it comes to music, I'm a sucker. All I know is that no matter what I do, where I go or how I feel, music follows me. She makes me feel so uplifting, rejoices me and takes all my worries away. It's funny because I think she actually listens and plays exactly what I need to hear when I'm having my dull moments. I can't describe it. Her beats are what keep me alive, Her lyrics feed my mentality, her sound is beauty, entirely too much for eyes to see so she speaks instead, her soul is all around a state of bliss. And for all these reasons, she has my heart, completely.

Weekly Update...

Hey there! I know I haven't been on in a week or so and I apologize. I have been so busy going to shows that I haven't had a chance to breathe, but of course, it's always a great experience for me. So let's start with last Saturday and I'll move on from there.

BlackFlag Shoppe held an event in Newark, NJ at The Coffee Cave last Saturday and it rocked! There were performances by John Vincent, Brokn.Englsh, Daniel Joesph, Cappadonna of Wu-Tang Clan, Dyana Prinze, Bully Mouth, and ending off with St Joe Louis (who were performing in Brooklyn that same night). There was so much hype that night, great people, dope crowd, amazing food and drinks, awesome performances, I mean it was a total success. Oh and what better way to end a night than to hit Tops diner in Harrison? I won't even go there with that one...
One more thing, be sure to check out BlackFlag Shoppe's blog for a list of events, or even to buy a Tee. So give O and L a visit at the shop, they're cool peoples!  Tell them Melodics sent you. =)

Wednesday was a pretty spectacular evening as well. A few friends and I hit NJPAC for an Old School Hip-Hop tribute. DJ Questlove of The Roots was originally supposed to DJ but wasn't  able to make it due to personal reasons, but of course that didn't make it any less of a night. He was replaced by DJ Pete Rock which was such a great experience being that I had never seen him live as opposed to seeing Quest quite a few times in these past months. It was a night filled with fun, laughter, dancing, drinks and more. If you haven't checked out what's going on recently in Newark this summer I suggest you check it out.

On Thursday I went to The Court Tavern in New Brunswick, NJ to see a few local artists and of course the one and only, talented Masta Ace! It was straight underground dopeness, a place where real hip-hop artists tore the stage up that night. I had the opportunity to meet some really amazing dudes from all over the Dirty Jerz to the streets of New York. Not only did they put on a great show but they were promoting their music pretty heavy, so guess who got a hand of a few new albums? Yes, me. So be prepared to read some awesome reviews. Stay tuned.

Saturday and Sunday were probably the best two days out of the week. On Saturday I finally had the chance to go to Real Deal Radio and hang out with the crew. I even got to meet some real down to earth rappers being interviewed that day. Real Deal Radio holds it down for North Jersey and a lot of New York. I never met such funny, awesome and chill people in my life. The whole environment through out the studio was uplifting, I felt such a music loving energy. Check them out on YouTube and show some support.

Sunday!!! Sorry, I had to emphasize my expression for the best day of my week. Sunday's the one day you're "supposed" to be resting, but Ha! Who needs rest when Rock Steady is in town, Newark at that! I had a blast, I rolled with a few dudes from Real Deal Radio and met up with a more people I knew. Rock Steady was celebrating its 33rd anniversary for free and what better way than to hold the concert in one of the most diverse, Hip-Hop loving cities in Jersey. Let me give you a quick run down on who was at the show. Big Daddy Kane, Brown Bag All Stars, DoItAll from Lords of the Undergound, EPMD, Dres of Black Sheep, The Artifacts, Canibus, Joelle Ortiz, DJ Premier, DJ Peter Rosenberg, N.O.R.E,  Poison Pen, and Immortal Technique to name a few. There was so much food, so many people and despite the rain I had tons of fun. I will be posting pics up soon, so be alert.

Well, it was great catching up and sharing my week with all of you. I'm working on a few interviews, helping out at Real Deal Radio (so I definitely will be posting links), and also, I'll be blogging very soon for another site, strictly Hip-Hop. I hope you all continue to have a beautiful and blessed week. Later!

Gimme Sympathy by METRIC

If you thought I was your typical female who only listened to Hip-Hop you thought wrong. I enjoy the beauty of music all around the world, regardless of the genres. Metric happens to be one of my favorite indie-rock bands ever. I absolutely love, love, love Emily on the vocals, besides her being a guitarist as well. Everything they put out sounds so original and chill. Stay tuned for more joints. Quick question...Who WOULD you rather be, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones???
